A note from our MD Mr Eric Zeev
October saw myself and Steve Irvine travel to Malaysia and China for business meetings and trade shows. Whilst there we visited our UV product supplier to see their manufacturing plant and extensive new product range. We also met with an associate Mr John Wong from WB Coatings a subsidiary from the German WB Coatings.
A particular product that caught our interest was a waterborne coating used for MDF. We had positive discussions on the possibility of distributing this within Australia starting 2012.
During the Shanghai leg of our visit we went to the China Coat Exhibition for Raw Materials and Machinery. This exhibition was much larger than any other show we’ve attended in the past and we made some very worthwhile contacts.
As well as the exhibition, I also had meetings with Manufacturers from Israel to finalize our export possibilities for the Timbalac Manufactured range. Steve and I had a meeting with German parties about the possible joint venture of manufacturing UV, as well as different water and solvent free products for the Australian Market. Our sales department is currently doing market research on the viability of this venture.
I would also like to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. We look forward to continuing our business relationship in 2012.

Intermixing Brands, is it really worth it?
With the current financial situation its only reasonable to assume everyone is looking at minimising costs and maximising profits where ever they can. Having said that one thing that should never change is the quality of the final product.
Intermixing products from different manufacturers is becoming more and more common with little thought to the long term effects it can have on your business and the quality of your final product. Manufacturers make a complete product range from hardener to topcoat knowing how all these components and chemicals work together, adding a different component can lead to issues for the applicator with poor sandability, low drying time, lack of adhesion to the surface, de lamination, uneven gloss levels and yellowing all common problems. Not all problems will be immediately apparent with some taking weeks to happen. When purchasing a complete system from Timbalac Coatings be it a budget or premium range we will guarantee the product and assist in problem solving should any issues arise, as well as using less coats to achieve the finish you are after and less man hour as problems rarely occur with the complete range, there for saving time and money overall.
Next time stop and consider how much mixing brands is actually costing you in labour, extra materials and more importantly customer satisfaction.

A note from our MD Mr Eric Zeev
At Timbalac Coatings the month has practically flown past, as our customers gear up for the Christmas rush. We were kept busy with taking and delivering orders and technical advice to customers, as well as a visit from Mark and Marko from Sayerlack in Italy. Thank you to those customers who allowed Steve Irvine to bring them to their businesses to consult on a range of technical issues. This has ensured that we got the most benefit out of their visit.
Our Sales team have also been busy collating all the information from our recent online survey. Her at Timbalac we take all the feedback - positive or negative - very seriously. Our senior management team are now in the process of putting in place a system for a faster response time to any problems that arise.
Whilst this survey has given us a better insight into how our customers perceive Timbalac Coatings, I would appreciate a more regular feedback system. I ask that you please contact Rebbecca Martin our marketing manager to discuss ways in which we can tailor this newsletter to suit your needs better.
Early November Steve and I will travel to Malaysia and China to meet with major manufacturers and raw material suppliers. We will discuss new trends and materials available to assist us in the improvement of our locally manufactured range.
Our Sales team will be distributing to you shortly our new Accessories Catalogue. Take the time to read through it as there are some new and exciting products we now have available. Your Reps will be available to discuss pricing and any technical queries you have.

A note from our MD Mr Eric Zeev
It’s hard to believe, but Christmas is only 3 months away. This reminds me, not only to buy tinsel for the tree, but to also look at the stock levels in both our Victorian warehouses; as this time of year is historically busier than others for our industry. Not only are the orders becoming more consistent - which shows the promise of a very prosperous 2012 for everyone - but there is the added urgency to complete orders and prepare for the shut down over the Christmas/New Year period.
During the final quarter of the year we all tend to reminisce and see what we have accomplished both as individuals and as a company. 2011 has thus far shown us, through our customers’ feedback, that you are as happy as ever with Timbalac Coatings. This isn’t just a price driven appreciation, but rather our strong product and technical knowledge, extensive product range and our overall can-do attitude.
2011 has also seen our Marketing Manager Rebbecca Martin join the Victorian branch of the SCAA committee (Surface Coatings Association of Australia). This strategic plan will help move Timbalac Coatings into the Toll Manufacturing sector for 2012. Our Head Chemist Swamy Repaka has also had a very busy year with developing new products and improving our existing range. We are also currently working with more advanced resins to create a premium Timbalac branded range as well as our standard lines that you know and love.
Having spoken with our financial team we will start implementing the ISO9001 control system in 2012. This will allow us to be far more active in Toll Manufacturing and Exporting. At the recent SCAA annual conference we had a very strong showing as a company, and walked away with many business contacts and a greater appreciation for the work our chemists do on a daily basis. There were presenters from USA and New Zealand, as well as local representation. They were all in agreeance that we need to be looking towards more environmentally sustainable products to ensure we stay ahead of the other markets. A big push was also placed on the “green” disposal of solvent based paints and thinners. The Master Painters Association has already implemented this disposal method and I look forward to seeing this system implemented throughout all facets of the paint industry.

Timbalac manufacturing recently conducted a trade night at the manufacturing plant in Dandenong, Victoria for the Master Painters Association members and staff.
The presentation was accepted with great interest by more than 40 Master Painters and staff that attended. The presentation included the modern manufacturing plant and an interactive display on producing products for timber coatings, paying close attention to the new range of low VOC and environmentally friendly products, as well as a presentation on the correct application methods of two pack products on MDF door frames and panel doors. An informative discussion took place on reading and implementing correct procedures based on the information in the products technical data sheets.
In question time answers were supplied by both the resident chemist and the managing director on all technical problems facing today’s painters with the new products and the regulations being implemented.
